Asadois a bold new twist on the classic Tex-Mex that we all know and love. Located on the corner of Broad and Laurel, the cozy restaurant screams urban rustic Richmond. With its tin pressed ceilings and classic wood furnishings, you can’t help but feel comfortable. Everything about this restaurant is straightforward and simple — everything except the food.
At first glance, the menu seemed slightly hollow. Despite this initial thinking, I just couldn’t say no to a $5 taco. I mean who could? After thoughtful consideration, I decided to get the grilled chicken taco with a side of chips and salsa. As I waited patiently for my soon to be food-gasm, I took in the view of Broad Street that was elegantly placed before my booth. This view was almost as heavenly as the one of the food approaching my table. The smell was mouth-watering.
Immediately when the food was set in front of me, I was astounded at how large the portions were. One taco was enough to fill my appetite for the rest of the evening. I thought that it couldn’t get any better. I was so incredibly wrong. Within the first bite of the soft, flour tortilla, my taste buds were on cloud nine. The grilled chicken was smoky perfection with a bold array of spices that made for a tangy sensation. Include the fresh pico-de-gallo, savory cheddar cheese, and zesty peppercorn ranch sauce and you have a taco to die for. As soon as you pair it with a crisp refreshing soda, you’ll have a meal so memorable you’ll see it in your dreams.
