Einstein brings something light and simple to campus. It is exactly what it sounds like: a place that offers a quick bite to eat. And a pretty damn good bagel for a college student, with a pretty well-valued price.
It isn’t going to try and be anything else, and that’s what there is to appreciate about it.
OPTIONS
Bagels, with a various amount of flavored cream cheese or sandwich style, along with a soda or hot cup of coffee. Wraps, salads, parfaits, and fruit are available as well.
LOCATION
810 Cathedral Place. Next to Hibbs, facing the Cabell Library.
Right next to Market 810 To-Go.
HOURS
Monday-Thursday: 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Not open on weekends
FOR THOSE WITH A DINING PLAN
Only dining dollars until 5 p.m., then it opens up for swipes. Nobody really knows why they would wait until dinner to allow students to use their swipes here.
For a swipe, students receive one drink, one bag of chips or a fruit, one yogurt, and, of course, their personally customized bagel.
BUSY TIMES
This one’s a bit of an anomaly. It is the busiest in the mornings, even after the installation of the new IHOP and their varied swipe menu. It also gets a bit of a line at 5 p.m. when its swipes open up, but other than that, if you’re in the mood for a bagel, you won’t have to worry about lines.
QUALITY
You can never go wrong with something so simple. It’s still a better bagel than you can make at home, and has much more variety.
RECOMMENDED OPTIONS
The Chicken Salad or Ham and Cheese bagel with an apple and a cup of coffee will treat you right. There’s nothing wrong with trying out a new bagel type, either. Asiago bagels tend to be pretty popular, especially because you can choose a spread like honey almond to go along with it.
TIPS
The main drawback is waiting in line, particularly in the morning, yet it’s the time that makes the most sense. If you need to grab something on the way to class though, this is probably one of your better options if you can’t pass through the Commons Convenience.
Also, if you don’t like a lot of spread, the workers will take care of you as long as you ask.
